Give customers or staff a focused mobile experience for the tasks they need to complete. I help plan and develop mobile applications, from user journeys and screen design to backend connections, testing and release preparation.
We start with the problem, the people using the app and the features needed for the first release.
An app needs a reason for users to install and return to it. That reason might be placing repeat orders, managing field work, receiving service updates or accessing account information while away from a desk.
I help define those tasks before choosing the development approach. We review Android and iOS requirements, the existing backend and the expected running costs. The result is a scope grounded in how people will use the product.
Map the important journeys, create screen layouts and define loading, empty and error states. Make forms and navigation appropriate for small screens.
Plan account access, service requests, bookings, order tracking or other agreed customer tasks.
Give teams access to the information they need while working away from the office. Device permissions and offline needs are scoped explicitly.
Connect the app to a supported existing system or develop the agreed backend. Define authentication, data access and synchronisation behaviour.
Include supported notifications, camera access, location or uploads when they serve a defined user task. Users should understand why a permission is requested.
Prepare the agreed store assets, build configuration and submission requirements. Store approval is controlled by Apple or Google and is separate from development completion.
We separate essential user tasks from later additions. A smaller, well defined first release makes testing more focused and gives users a clearer experience. It also helps identify backend and operational work needed before launch.
For some projects, a responsive website or web application meets the requirement. For others, installed access, repeat use and device features support the case for a mobile app. The recommendation follows your users’ needs and the project budget.
We define the audience, core problem, platforms and business requirements.
You review the main screens and flows before development.
We agree the app approach, backend, integrations and account ownership.
I implement the agreed screens, functions and supported connections.
We test selected devices, account flows, connectivity changes and the important user tasks.
We prepare submission materials and document the agreed support and update process.
When a project needs additional specialists, such as a designer, copywriter or another developer, the proposal names who is involved and what each person is responsible for.
The proposal specifies the platforms, screen scope, backend work, integrations, device test coverage and release support. It identifies who supplies store copy, branding, screenshots and policy documents.
Developer account fees, third party services, hosting and ongoing app updates are listed separately. Ownership, source access and signing arrangements are defined in the agreement. Your business should retain control of essential app store and service accounts.
Describe the users and the tasks your app needs to support. I will help establish the scope, technical requirements and next development step.
